Preparation for the March 14th Trip to Vladimir, Russia
I am a bit nervous about this trip. I am attending my first Russian wedding and I am traveling to Siberia for the first time. However, I am nervous about two aspects of this trip and those are not they.
I will be flying to Nizhnevartovsk from Moscow by Aeroflot and that makes me nervous. In addition, once I arrive in Nizhnevartovsk, Russia my interpreter and I will travel to Tomsk by train. The train trip will be quite a new experience I am sure, but the thought of that experience by rail is not contributing to my nervousness.
However, traveling to Tomsk without knowing anyone there and with no reservations for lodging and not knowing where we will obtain food etc. Well that makes me nervous. We will travel to Tomsk to find and meet with a Baptist pastor to establish a relationship that will allow us to return to Tomsk in a year or so with a mission team. I am sure that God will take care of the details, but leaving that to Him when I know He is busy with other more important matters, well it makes this country boy from Macon, Georgia just a bit nervous.
So in the end I guess it boils down to this, can I trust and obey. Well it seems at least for this trip I have the obedience part down. The real question is will I trust also.
Jeremiah 17 5:8
5 Thus says the LORD, "Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh
his strength, And whose heart turns away from the LORD. 6 "For he will be like a
bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in
stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant. 7 "Blessed is
the man who trusts in the LORD And whose trust is the LORD. 8 "For he will be
like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will
not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be
anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.
Maybe I will learn to trust God more deeply on this trip!
